Denial of any perceived weakness (e.g. emotions/ feelings and faults) flawless. Has an inflated view of himself, particularly with members of the opposite sex. According to the male ideology, hierarchy and fighting for dominance are part of nature; therefore there can be no such thing as equality - "someone has to be on top." For this reason, the very idea of equality with women is interpreted unconsciously by many men to mean a challenge to their "dominance". (Hite 1987) Next |
